Words

Inspired by David Crowder Band's "I Need Words"

Words--those spoken sounds used many ways
To tell You how I feel; my voice I raise
To weave those morphemes together in a song,
Trying to explain You and knowing all along
I need words as deep as the sea
To explain the joy You've given to me.
I need You.

Words--the music of the human tongue
That into complex sentences I have strung
To seek to praise; I know that even then
To praise You human words cannot begin.
I need words as high as the stars
To attempt to describe Who You are.
I need You.

Words--units of speech that I explore
With my life, and yet I want You more.
With words and pen and page, I feel alive
And yet with the True Word I simply thrive.
I need words beyond my speech
I'm humbled by how out they're of reach.
I need You.

Words--those syllables of which this poem is made--
The utterance of a child who was a slave
Until You freed me. My Abba-King, I pray
Hear my man-made words today!
I need words more intense than my longing
To explain the glory to You belonging.
I need You!

He Keepeth Truth Forever

Now praises sing all ye that trust
In God the Great and Mighty, Just.
He keepeth truth forever.

Truth He loves, but lies He hates
Walk His path, the narrow, straight.
He keepeth truth forever.

He knows each thought and ev’ry sin.
I will seek to follow Him.
He keepeth truth forever.

The one of only Lord.

A New Song

For Mrs. Paula...

Thou hast put a new song in my heart
Even praise unto Thy name.
Thou hast taken all my sin away
Removing my guilt and shame.

Chorus:
Thou hast put a new song
In my mouth and heart.
It shall witness of Thee
Tell others I’m Set Apart.

Thou hast put a new song in my heart
Thou hast heard my ev’ry cry.
Thou hast brought me from the miry clay
Thou art ever near, so nigh.

Thou hast put a new song in my heart
Even praises unto Thee.
I will sing of all that Thou hast done
Now and thru eternity!

Come and Hear

All ye that fear the Lord Most High.
He is my Rock, to Him I fly.
With praises singing to Him am I.
Now come and hear.

I cried to Him when in great distress
He brought my soul security, rest.
Still by His saving love I am blest.
Now come and hear.

Verily, He doth hear my voice
As I choose to make Him my first choice
And in his presence I now rejoice.
Now come and hear.

He has not turned His ear from my prayer.
Daily on him I cast all my care.
All hath done for me I declare.
Now come and hear.

I Will Triumph

Lord, I will triumph in Your works
The creations of Your hand.
For great are they, and marvelous
According to Your plan.
Your thoughts, O Lord, are very deep -
With depths more than the sea.
To think that such a God on high
Would know and care for me!

Lord I will triumph in Your works,
From grass blade to hardwood tree.
The mountains do declare Your praise
Your strength in the plains I see.
O Lord, most high forevermore,
Lord, Yours the glory be.
What joy to know or even to think--
You came to earth for me!

Evidence of a Creator

You see a cake with beauty there
There is a baker somewhere.
You see an airplane flying high.
They’ll be an engineer by and by.
You see a painting on the wall
There was painter in it all.
You have a pen in your hand.
There was a pen factory, understand.
And yet…
You see a lily, in full bloom
You say, “This happened with a boom.”

How can you think this?

I see a lily blooming fair.
There is a Creator there.
Not only did He make that bloom,
He formed me in my mother’s womb.

By Touching Him

By touching Him we could not find Him out;
How excellent is He!
In power, justice, judgment too
His glory none can see.

By touching Him we could not find Him out.
His greatness now proclaim.
For our creator He is God;
Almighty is His name.

Ye Are Kept

Ye are kept by the power of God
Safe in His hand, where e’er you trod
Wherein this promise now rejoice
Sing praises, lift ye up your voice.

Ye are kept by His mighty arm
Hidden there from the Devil’s harm.
Though ye are tempted, in this rest:
He is perfecting through this test.

Ye are kept by our Jesus Christ
Thus serve Him with your heart and life.
Protected from the Devil’s darts
Yield to Him mind and soul and heart.

I am kept by Thy power, O Lord
As I take up Thy Shield, Thy Sword.
I will fight daily enemies
Lord, help me! Thine the glory be.

Our God is Great and Wise in Heart

Our God is great and wise in heart
His ways past finding out.
He moveth mountains, by His hand
Compasses me about.

Our God is great and wise in heart
He never sleeps or slumbers
His wonders cannot all be named
Nor can they be numbered.

Our God is great and wise in heart
In strength the Mighty One.
Creation joins to sing His praise
He spoke and it was done.

Our God is great and wise in heart,
He makes the sun to shine.
The earth trembles at His command.
To think that He is mine!

My Strength and Shield

My Strength and Shield, my heart doth help
I trust in Him, He shall not fail.
In this assurance I rejoice,
Though fearful thoughts assail.

My Strength and Shield my Jesus is;
He hears my daily prayer.
My Rock, my Fortress still is He,
The Bearer of my care.

My Strength and Shield, He keepeth me,
From paths of wicked men.
But firmly on the path of life
He plants my feet again.

My Strength my Shield, Thy name I praise,
My song shall be of Thee.
How sweet the blessed assurance is
That Thou hast given me!

Praises Sing Ye to the Savior

Praises sing ye to the Savoir
For in love He gave His life.
It is finished; now He reigneth!
He is risen and is Christ!
Christians raise your voices higher
Sing aloud, His glorious praise.
Praise sing ye to the Savoir
Evermore His greatness raise.

Praises sing ye to the Savoir
He is Lord o’er ev’rything!
Rocks and hill break forth in singing,
Praises your Creator bring.
Wind and waves and sea obey Him
Sun and moon shine forth His praise!
Creatures of the earth and people
Sing aloud, your voices raise.

Praises sing ye to the Savior
O’er the earth His love proclaim!
Tell to ev’ry land and nation
Jesus Christ, God’s son, doth reign!
All who trust in Jesus, fear Him
Of His wonders ever sing.
Praises sing ye to the Savior
Who o’er all the earth is King!

Joyfully Adore the Savoir

Joyfully adore the Savoir
Evermore His love proclaim!
Show abroad His glorious power
Magnify His holy name.
Kneel before Him, come adore Him,
Who, for all, hath come to earth.
Joyfully adore the Savior
Sing aloud His matchless worth!

Joyfully adore the Savior
All who through Him are redeemed.
Praise Him for the blood that cleanses
All who wash in Calvary’s stream.
Make Him, crown Him, Lord and Savior
Listen for His loving voice.
Joyfully adore the Savior
In His holiness rejoice!

Joyfully adore the Savoir
Praise Him for He gave His life.
So that we might have redemption
By our Savoir: Jesus Christ.
Joyfully this is my witness
“Jesus is my only choice!”
Joyfully adore the Savoir
In His perfect ways rejoice!

Christ Sits Worthy on His Throne

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He hath ransomed all His own.
He hath died on Calvary
To save and cleanse a wretch like me!

Chorus:
Worthy, worthy art Thou, O Lord!
All proclaim in one accord:
“Thou art worthy, thou alone.
Great and glorious, on Thy throne.”

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He hath called for all His own.
He holds all within His grasp.
Alpha, Omega – first and last!

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He hath risen for His own!
Through the ages, shout and sing
Praise to the Savior, King of Kings!

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He adored by all His own.
Knell before on bended knee
Praise Him for eternity!

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He hath fashioned all His own.
Rock of Ages, Great I AM,
Praises to Jesus, Calv’ry’s Lamb!

Christ sits worthy on His throne,
He hath guided all His own.
When at last I see His face
“Worthy the Lamb!” I’ll sing in praise.

How Great Thy Power!

How great thy power, Sovereign Lord,
How great Thy majesty!
Thy thoughts how great the sum of them
That thou wouldst die for me!
How great thy wisdom, strength and power
I shall not, WILL not fear.
Because I know that thou art Lord
And thou art ever near!

How broad thy wisdom, Sovereign Lord,
Yea, all the world is thine!
Mine eye doth see the wonders in
Thy intricate designs!
Thou knowest all, thou Lord of hosts
My thoughts, my hope, desire.
Lord, grant to me one prayer today,
“Lord, set my heart on fire!”

How great thy faithfulness, O Lord
The universe – thine own.
Thou carest for the little things
And ruleth from Thy throne!
Thy faithfulness is unto me
You freed my soul from sin!
Thy promises come back to say
“I love thee, yes, Amen!”

Delighting in Thee

Delighting in Thee, precious Savior,
In thy love through Calv’ry shown.
Thy attributes, O how matchless
Thou art God, and thou alone!

Delighting in Thee, precious Savior,
In they strength and holy power.
Show to me thy heart, thy wisdom
And the fear of thee this hour.

Delighting in Thee, precious Savior,
In thy grace and majesty.
In thy greatness, why should thou Lord,
Die to save a wretch like me?

Delighting in Thee, precious Savior,
In Thy glory and Thy ways.
And I cry in adoration
“Lord, may Thou receive the praise!”
