Here Christ Stands

Here lies a body
Cold with death.
No longer taking that
Life-giving breath.
Only to be
A cavity
Wherein worms feed
Decomposition's deed.

Here lies a body
Like rotting pages
Sitting in a decrepid
Library for ages.
Once a story
Of glory
Now damned by death
To end.  And yet--

Here lies the body
Of Jesus Christ.
It laughs at death
And clutches life.
A Revised Edition,
Restored and Risen.
Defeat is not His plight
While the Author writes.

Here lay the body
Of Christ the King
Until victory triumphed
And conquered death's sting.
Sin is not the end
While the Savior pens
The tale of His plan
With nail-scarred hands.
Here Christ stands.

"Like the Cover of an Old Book, its Contents torn out and stripped of its Lettering and Gilding, He lies here, Food for Worms.  But the Work shall not be lost; for it will (as He believed) appear once more in a New and More Elegant Edition, Revised and Corrected by the Author."  ~ Benjamin Franklin

He is Yet Alive!

He is Yet Alive!

May 11, 2008

Within a shadowed corner myst’ry lay

As ruffled folds of fabric laid therein.

What happened on the morning of that day?

Where was the body of the dead within?

I sighed and stared into the darkened room.

Who could’ve done this evil to my friend?

Why had they thus removed Him from His tomb?

Why had they killed Him? He had done no sin.

I thought back of Him and His love for me,

His perfect heart, His grace beyond compare,

His death upon the cross of Calvary,

And now this myst’ry – Jesus wasn’t here.

Behind me then a gentle voice did chide:

“Why fear ye? Joy! for I am yet alive!”

Easter Dawn

As it began to dawn upon that day
Three woman met and traveled to a tomb.
And while they pondered His life on the way
Their hearts were burdened with a heavy gloom.

Just days before they’d seen Him, their dear friend,
Healthy, serving God and full of life.
Just three short days; why did He have this end?
O, how they missed Him; their Lord Jesus Christ!

They came upon the tomb wherein He lay
But wait – no body in the tomb remained!
O why had someone taken Him away?
The women’s faces with pure grief were strained.

But then their hearts rejoiced – the angel said:
“He is not here – but risen from the dead!”

I Am He Who Liveth

I am He who liveth
The Son of God am I.
The God of future, present, past,
Alpha, Omega, Fist and Last.
Awaiting thee on high.

I am He who liveth –
Alive Forevermore.
I rose again to ransom Thee
To hell and death I have the key
For I am Christ the Lord.

Hosanna! Through the Ages

Hosanna through the ages
Hosanna, loud Amen!
All praises to the Savoir
Who freeth all souls from sin.
Salvation, honor, praise and power
All glory to our Lord!
For true and righteous are His works
Come praise in one accord.

Hosanna through the ages
Hosanna, all rejoice!
The Lord thy Savoir reigneth
Omnipotent is His choice!
O, all ye servants, small and great
Give honor unto Him.
Sing praises to our God and Lamb
Alleluia, Amen!

Hosanna through the ages
Hosanna to our King!
Press toward the finish all ye saints
Thy crowns before Him bring.
For Christ sits worthy on His throne
Ye saints all sin abhore.
Hosanna to the KING of KINGS
Come worship the LORD of LORDS!

Loud Hosanna! Christ is Risen!

Loud Hosanna! Christ is Risen!
Now behold your glorious King!
Satan conquered, sin forgiven,
Death, behold, where is your sting?
Christ--victorious--rules forever.
Listen, He calls; go to Him.
He sweetly woos in endless mercy
"I will free your soul from sin!"

Loud Hosanna! Christ is Risen!
See His nail-marked hands and feet.
As He speaks He looks upon you
Will you will your Savior meet?
Look, His arms are open freely;
Flee to Him without delay!
He has opened heaven’s treasures,
Shown to us the only way!

Loud Hosanna! Christ in Risen!
Silence greets the empty tomb.
Will you answer His strong urging
As He cries out, “There is room!”
Speak! He listens every moment.
Call to Him all tempest tossed.
He will hearken to your pleading
He will guide you to His cross.

Loud Hosanna! Christ is Risen!
Doubters see the empty grave.
It is true; why do you tremble?
Trust in Him who came to save!
Drink each holy proven chapter;
Taste and see the Lord is good!
Come and sit and sup with Jesus;
Come and savor every word.

Loud Hosanna! Christ is Risen!
He has triumphed as He said!
“It is finished!” still it echoes
Christ has risen from the dead!
Feel the presence of the Savior.
Will you give Him every part?
Lamb of Calvary, come and make me
Closer, nearer, to Your heart!
